Meet the CME Athletes Going to the Warrior Games

Earlier this year we published an article announcing the selection of Team Canada members for this year's Warrior Games in Tampa, FL.

Below is a short biography of the three CME members on the team:

 

Mike Briggs

 

Mike Briggs

Officer Cadet Mike Briggs (Ret'd), from Cole Harbour Nova Scotia, was inspired by fellow former Officer Cadet (retired) M.J. Batek during the 2017 Invictus Games to adopt a more active lifestyle. Mike never thought that one day he would be able to follow in her footsteps and give his heart to Team Canada, and show that he too is unconquerable. Mike will be participating in swimming, wheelchair rugby and sitting volleyball.

Stephane Jobin

Stephane Jobin, a Combat Engineer from Valcartier, Quebec served in Afghanistan in 2007-08. With his loving partner and family cheering him on in everything he does, the Warrior Games will provide Stephane with an opportunity to serve again with his brothers-in-arms and to help put the spotlight on those who suffer silently with mental health injuries. Stephane will be competing in athletics, shooting, and wheelchair rugby.

Damien Pittman  

WO Damien Pittman

Raised in a small town in Gros Morne National Park, St. Paul's Newfoundland, WO Pittman joined the Royal Canadian Engineers in July of 2000. After completing is QL 3 Training at CFB Gagetown, then Spr Pittman was posted to what he called home, 2 Combat Engineer Regiment, for the majority of his career. Having severed on deployments Roto 0 in Kabul, Afghanistan, Operation IMPACT 2.0 in Erbil Iraq, and the highlight of his career during TF3-06 (Operation MEDUSA) in 2006-2007. WO Pittman has had postings to CFSME and 1 ESU Kingston, where he currently resides and will continue to raise his family post-release, with his beautiful and understanding wife Patricia and children Kaylie and Cade.
WO Pittman will be medically released from the Canadian Armed Forces in August of this year due to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He is looking forward to competing with his fellow members of Team Canada at this year US Department of Defense's Warrior Games.
