After more than 18 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and the Canadian Military Engineer (CME) Branch, MCpl Todd McDonald, CD, will retire 28 September 2020. At the member’s request, a gathering will be held during the month of October 2020, once his retirement certificates have been received. 1. MCpl Todd McDonald joined the Canadian Armed Forces when he was 20 years in Charlottetown, PEI Canada. He had originally joined as an Armoured Crewmen, and while employed with the Royal Canadian Dragoons he achieved the rank of Sgt.
2. During his time with the Royal Canadian Dragoons he completed many courses, including BMQ, SQ, DP1, Reece crew commander, Tank commander, PLQ Mods 1 – 6 and various instructor techniques. He was deployed as part of OP Athena Roto 05-01. He was part of the RCD assault Troop from 2002 till 2005, RCD B Sqn from 2005- 2007 out of CFB Petawawa before being posted to the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps School at CFG Gagetown. He was a member of the Armoured School from 2007-2013 before switching trades to Refrigeration Mechanical Technician.
3. He completed his DP1 RM Tech course and in August 2014 and was posted to 14 Wing Greenwood. This is where he completed his OJE, and Aircraft Arresting System team leader course. He completed his DP2 RM Tech course training in Jul 2017. He started in the RM shop as an apprentice and was lucky enough to stay in 14 Wing Greenwood long enough to become the shop supervisor before transitioning to the training Officer for 14 MSS CE and RP Ops Atlantic Det Greenwood. During his time in the RM he made serval positive changes within the RM shop and was the team leader for two emergency landings.
4. MCpl McDonald will retire from the CAF on 28 Sept 2020 with more than eighteen years of loyal and dedicated service. He plans on staying in the Greenwood area while taking a position with RP Ops Atlantic Det Greenwood and is happily putting down roots in the Annapolis Valley, NS.
