MCpl Poirier joined the CAF at the Montreal Recruiting Centre in 1998 as an air navigator. He was posted to CFB Winnipeg from 1998 to 2001. MCpl Poirier commissioned as an artillery officer in 2001 and was transferred to 5 RALC from 2001 to 2006. In 2006-2007, MCpl Poirier was transferred to CISQFT where he received a commendation for his excellent work in the development of the new distance leadership course. From 2007 to 2011, he was a student at Laval University as part of a CAF program. In 2012, he reoriented his career by becoming an electrician with the Royal Canadian Engineers and was transferred to St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Kingston and 5 CER until 02 Sept 2020, where he retired after 22 years of good and loyal service. He retired to Ste-Catherine de la Jacques Cartier with his wife Nancy and their children, Joanie and Maxime.
