    After more than 15 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and the Canadian Military Engineer Branch,MCpl Oliver Sergerie, CD (bio attached), will retire 15 Feb 2017.  A Depart with Dignity Ceremony will take place at the Malone’s Lakeside Bar & Grill, on 10 Feb 2017.  Attendees are requested to advise the OPI of their planned attendance NLT 06 Feb 2017.  Anecdotes or retirement wishes may be sent to the OPI MCpl Kate Paradis or by phone at 613-996-3532.

    MCpl Sergerie joined the CAF on Setember 28, 2001 as a Meteorological Technician (Met Tech). After his initial trade qualification at the Canadian Forces School of Meteorology he was posted to CFB Bagotville; there he participated in EX NOBLE EAGLE. He was deployed to CFB Alert from April to October 2003. He completed his QL 5 Met Tech in 2006 and was posted to 2RHCA in CFB Petawawa. He deployed to Afghanistan from July 06 until February 07 with 2RCHA. Upon his return he applied for a change of trade and became a Geomatics Technician. He began training in his new trade July 08 at the School of Military Mapping Algonquin College and graduated in May 10. Posted to MCE he worked in Geospatial Information Services Squadron (GI&S Sqn) becoming an integral part of the Sqn. In 2013 he was transferred to Head Quarters Squadron (HQ Sqn) Unit OPS in the Client Centre. After more than a year in this position he went to Geomatics Support Squadron (Geo Sp Sqn) and worked on a joint project with Feature Production Squadron (FP Sqn). In 2015 he has be chosen to become the senior military person of a new military section in FP. November 2016 he was tasked to assist the Unit Historian with the ongoing MCE Archive Project.
     
    Olivier and his wife and four children will stay in the Gatineau region for the rest of their achievements.
