After more than 21 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineers Branch, MCpl Nathaniel Buisman, CD, will retire on 11 May 2022. At the member’s request, friends and colleagues are welcome to attend the Depart with Dignity ceremony, initially planned for 11 May 2022, will now take place on 02 June 2022 at 15:00 hrs at the 22 Wing Ayr Mess – ROCC Lounge. MCpl Nathaniel Buisman enlisted in the CAF as Infantry on 28 September 2000 in Hamilton, ON, and completed BMQ that same year. Upon completion of Infantry QL3 in 2002, he was posted to 1 PPCLI in Edmonton, AB, as the Wpn Det 2I/C. While there, MCpl Buisman deployed on Op APOLLO in 2003, was promoted to Cpl in 2004, and deployed again with JTF Afghanistan - Inf Battle Grp, Roto 1, in 2006.
By 2011, MCpl Buisman had transferred occupations to Electrical Distribution Technician, graduated ED Tech QL3, and was posted to 2 CER in Petawawa, ON. There, he completed OJT, followed by ED Tech QL5 training in 2014. After completing PLQ in 2016, MCpl Buisman was appointed as Sect 2I/C. In 2017, he was promoted to his current rank and posted to CFB North Bay as the Electrical Shop Supervisor. He completed ED Tech QL6A in 2019 and deployed in support of Op REASSURANCE in 2020.
Following retirement, MCpl Buisman will continue working with DND as a civilian ED tech with RP Ops Det North Bay. Nathaniel will remain in the area with his spouse, Jennifer, and his two children, Quinn and Cameron.
