    After more than 12 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineers, MCpl Ian Stratton will retire on 15 June 2022. Congratulatory messages and best wishes can be sent to MCpl Y.R.F. Doyon at Yannick.Doyon@forces.gc.ca.


    Born in Winnipeg, MB, on 20 August 1990, MCpl Stratton spent part of his youth in Oromocto, NB, and his teenage years in Borden, ON. He enrolled in the CAF on 07 April 2010 and was immediately transferred to CFLRS St-Jean, where he completed BMQ in July 2010. After BMQ, he completed BMQ-T in September 2010, followed by combat engineering DP1 at the CFSME in July 2011.

    From CFSME, he was posted to 4 ESR, 42 Sqn, 1 Tp. After a year as a section member of 1 Tp, he became an EROC operator in 43 Sqn in August 2012. In June 2015, MCpl Stratton moved within the Regiment to fulfill the role of water supply operator for 45 Sqn, 2 Tp. After several years with 45 Sqn, he transferred again to 48 Sqn to be the Maintenance and Transportation Representative (MT Rep). In June 2019, he returned to 42 Sqn, 1 Tp as Recce 2IC. MCpl Stratton was promoted to MCpl in January 2021 with his last transfer within the Regiment to his current position as MT Rep / 2IC of 48 SQMS.

    Shortly after his promotion, Ian decided to retire from the CAF and move to Halifax, NS, with his wife, Stephanie. In Halifax, he plans to return to school to complete an engineering degree
