MCpl/Cplc C.R. Nowlan

    After more than 12 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineers, MCpl Connor Nowlan will retire on 15 June 2021.     MCpl Nowlan enrolled in Halifax, NS and was sworn in on 27 Nov 2008 as a Naval Weapons Tech. He started BMQ at CFLRS, St Jean, on 01 Dec 2008. Upon completion of BMQ, MCpl Nowlan spent a year and half in the Navy before an occupational transfer to Combat Engineer.

    In May 2011, MCpl Nowlan was posted to 1 CER. After a brief stint in 18 Maintenance, MCpl Nowlan was employed as a section member in 11 Fd Sqn, deploying on multiple exercises and Op LENTUS during the 2013 Calgary floods. In 2015, MCpl Nowlan moved to EOD and completed the IEDD Operator course in 2016. In 2017, MCpl Nowlan deployed on Op UNIFIER as an IEDD Tm Member as part of LoE2 in Kamyanets Podolskyi, Ukraine. Upon returning from Ukraine, MCpl Nowlan continued to be employed as a Det Commander in EOD TP at 1 CER, taking part in exercises such as ARDENT DEFENDER and teaching at CFSME. In Oct 2019, MCpl Nowlan deployed on Op UNIFIER again, this time to Zolochiv, where he worked as an advisor to the National Guard of Ukraine in a small multi-national team comprised of Swedish, Danish, and Ukrainian forces. Upon returning from his second deployment, MCpl Nowlan was employed as a recce 2I/C as part of 12 Fd Sqn, 3 Tp. In 2021, MCpl Nowlan deployed to JRTC in Fort Polk, Louisiana, as a section commander.

    Upon releasing from the CAF, MCpl Nowlan will attend post-secondary education in Denmark.
