We regret to advise of the death of Firefighter Master Corporal Byran “Mel" Newans, CD (Ret’d) of Yorkton SK on 24 November 2021. Mel served as a Canadian Forces firefighter at the Fire Fighter Training Company in Canadian Forces Base Borden ON as well as at Canadian Forces Station Yorkton. After retiring from the Canadian Forces, Mel joined the fire department of the City of Yorkton and rose to become their Fire Chief. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday 30 November 2021 at 10:00 AM from St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church. Those wishing to make a contribution in memory of the Late Byran "Mel" Newans may do so with a Mass Offering.
