In honour of the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, the Defence Attaché of Canada in France, Colonel Jason Galuga, and the Izzy Doll Initiative executive director, Lise Galuga, with the support of the Canadian Military Engineers Association, initiated the 80 Izzy Dolls for the 80th project where Izzy Doll shadow boxes are presented to French communities with strong ties to Canada, as a tangible symbol of the enduring friendship between Canada and France.
A ceremony was held at the Centre Juno Beach / Juno Beach Centre on Wednesday 19 February, where 15 new mayors received Izzy Dolls that will be displayed in their communities, thus joining this poignant tribute to Master Corporal Mark Isfeld and his mother Carol Isfeld. This brings this project to the 75% completion mark!
Izzy Dolls are crafted by volunteers across the globe and are a symbol of comfort and hope that continue to carry a message of peace and solidarity.
