    We regret to advise of the death of Master Warrant Officer Gerald Dubé, CD (Ret’d) on 8 Dec 2014 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Gerald was a long-serving Sapper and a strong supporter of the CMEA, Sappers Club, and the Royal Canadian Legion.

    Gerald was born in 1941 in Laval QC and enrolled in the Royal Canadian Engineers in February 1961. He was posted to the Citadelle in Quebec City for his basic training and then on to Chilliwack for his Field Engineer Trades Training course. His first posting on completion of this training was to 2 Field Squadron in Gagetown. Shortly after his arrival he remustered to the carpentry trade. In August 1963 he was posted to 4 Field Squadron in Werl Germany where he served until 1966. From 1966 to 1970 he was posted with the Service Battalion in Montreal and had Temporary Duty attachments to Alert NWT and Farnham QC during this posting. Between 1970 and 1993 Gerald served in numerous locations: CFS Mont Apica, CFB Montreal, CFB Bagotville, CFB Cold Lake, CFB Halifax, CFS Beaverlodge, Mobile Command HQ in St Hubert, QC, and CFB Goose Bay. During 1981 he deployed to Cyprus with the United Nations force and served with both 2 PPCLI and the R22R.

    After 32 years of service Gerald retired to the Chilliwack area. In 1996 he joined Corrections Canada where he worked until 2006 at which time he and his wife Jackie moved to the Edmonton area.

    At the request of Gerald and his family there will be no service.
