We regret to advise of the death of Sergeant Manning Brown “Mike” Frail, CD (Ret'd) of the Comox Valley Seniors Village in Comox, BC on 9 November 2019 at the age of 83.

Mike was born in Westfield NS and enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1955 at the age of 18. He joined as a signaller with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals but later found his true calling with the Royal Canadian Military Engineers as a Sapper. A true “Army Guy” in every sense of the word, Mike was known to all in the Engineer world as “Father Frail”. He served with honors until his release in October 1986.

Mike had many postings throughout his career in locations such as Kingston ON, Germany, Winnipeg MB, Shilo MB, Chilliwack BC, and Holberg BC. Upon retirement Mike and Eva moved to Ootsa Lake, BC and then settled in Comox, BC.  Mike loved to hunt, fish, laugh, and show off his infectious smile.

Mike’s family and friends will celebrate a wonderful life on the deck in the spring, with a “Dark and Dirty” in their hands. The family asked that anyone wanting to make donations in Mike’s honor may do so at a charity of their choice. Online condolences can be sent to the Funeral Home.
