Major Marc Antoine R. Parent

Marc Parent spent his childhood moving across Eastern Canada. Born in Montreal, he lived in St-John's, NL, Montreal, QC, and attended high school in Dartmouth, NS. With no family military background or experience, he enrolled in the Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP) and attended the Royal Military College of Canada, graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering degree in 2008.

Marc’s early career employment includes Troop Commander and Assistant Operations Officer at 5e Régiment du génie de combat, Plans Officer and Engineer Advisor at 5e Groupe-brigade mécanisé du Canada , J3 Operations for the National Command Support Element for Op ATTENTION Roto 2 in Afghanistan, as well as Tactics staff, Basic Engineering Officer 1.2 course officer and Operations Officer at the Canadian Forces School of Military Enginering. 

Promoted to his current rank of Major in 2016, Marc took command of 52 Field Squadron and then deployed as an embedded Engineer Plans Officer into Combined Joint Task Force-Operation INHERENT RESOLVE where he was lead coordinator with the Corps of Iraqi Engineers for Capability Building. Upon his return from Iraq, Marc was assigned as the Liaison Officer to the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence (MSCOE) in Fort LeonardWood, Missouri, where the US Army Engineer School (USAES) is located. Marc returned to Canada amid the COVID pandemic in the summer of 2020 and assumed his current duties at the Canadian Joint Operations Centre as the J Engineer Plans Officer for the East, Africa and Indo-Pacific regions.

Among his military qualifications, Marc is a Combat Diver and Dive Supervisor and a graduate of the Canadian Army Staff College (Kingston).

Marc's passion remains in all things related to sports. He is an avid Hockey player and golfer and he coaches both hockey and soccer for his kids' teams.

Marc has been married to Déborah for 10 years and they have three children together: Maxandre (7), Jacob (5), and Daphnée (3).
