Maj Sophie Beaulieu will be retiring from the CAF after 12 years (and 2 days) of service. There will be a Departure with Dignity Ceremony on 16 August 2019 between 11h30-13h30 at Ye’s Buffet Restaurant located at 616 Saint James Street in Winnipeg. Maj Sophie Beaulieu (SMC) joined the Canadian Armed Forces as a direct entry officer in 2007 with a Civil Engineering Diploma from the University of Sherbrooke and more than 13 years of experience in engineering.
After graduating Military Engineering Phases Training in 2009, she was posted to 4 Wing Cold Lake as Engineering Officer. In 2010, she deployed to Afghanistan for a period of 11 months as the Infrastructure Officer for the Engineer Support Squadron. In 2011, she returned to 4 Wing Cold Lake as the WCE Maintenance Officer. In 2012, she was posted to 1 Canadian Air Division, to Bed-down / Infrastructure Management, AFEC Readiness. In 2015, she was promoted to Major and posted to CFSAS, now RCAF Barker College, in the position of AFOD Distance Learning Programme Officer. In 2018, Maj Beaulieu came back to 1 CAD HQ, to her present position as Doctrine and Training Officer with A4 CE.
Maj Beaulieu is very proud of her son, Nathaniel Rioux, who joined the CAF in 2015. She is also very happy to expand her family with her partner’s children, Jennifer and Jonathan, his son-in-law Wade, and his granddaughter Maddi. She considers herself privileged to have had the opportunity to work with exceptional people throughout her military career and to have been able to build friendships across the country. Maj Beaulieu will retire on 19 August 2019 after 12 years (and 2 days) of military service. She and her partner in life, Capt Dale Dieleman, will settle in Saint-Simon-de-Rimouski in the province of Quebec.
