    Major Marc Poirier will retire on 30 April 2014 after more than 39 years of loyal and dedicated service with the CF Primary Reserve 1974-1990 & 1998-2014) and DND (public servant - 1990 to 1998). Marc’s service to his country began as an Air Cadet with 636 Squadron in January 1971. He enrolled in the Militia as a sapper with 9th Field Engineer Squadron of Rouyn-Noranda on 3 December 1974.

    In May 1976, Marc became an officer cadet under the Reserve Entry Scheme – Officers (RESO) program. He attended his Military Engineer training at CFB Chilliwack in 1977 and 1978; where he became affectionately known as “Chimo Man”. In October 1986, he completed a Business Administration degree with the Université du Québec à Montréal. Marc’s many postings included Acting DCO and Adjt of 9 Génie, Rouyn-Noranda; SO Personnel Management at FMC HQ, StHubert; Engineer umpire during RV-87, Wainwright; Systems Analyst with ADM (Per) / DPIS (both mil and civ employment); Coordinator of the Supp Res Revitalization project; Sub-section head of G1 Res Mgt with the Land Staff; SO to ADM (HR-Civ); Policy Analyst with CMP / DPers Pol; and, most recently, CF Human Rights Analyst with CMP / DHRD in Ottawa.

    Marc and his wife of over 35 years Marjolaine intend to remain in the Outaouais area to enjoy spending time with their daughters, Geneviève and Mélanie, their sons-in-law, Alain and David and their precious treasure, 8 year old grand-daughter Océanne.

    Friends and colleagues are welcome to attend his depart with dignity ceremony which will take place at the Army Officers' Mess (Ottawa) on Wednesday 30 April 2014 from 14:00 to 16:00.
