After more than 29 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineer Branch, Maj Kevin Stevens, CD, will retire on 15 September 2024. A DwD reception will be held on October 4, 2024 at Glacier Greens Golf Course cin Comox, BC between 16:00 and 18:30. Maj Kevin Stevens was born in Kingston ON and joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1994 as an Infantry Reservist with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada, and later transferred to the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa.
In 2000, Maj Stevens joined the Regular Force as a Fire Fighter, attending the Canadian Forces Fire Academy in Borden ON. Upon graduation he was posted to 19 Wing Comox as a line Firefighter. In 2004 he was posted to 17 Wing Winnipeg as the Chief Fire Inspector and was promoted to MCpl. In 2009 Maj Stevens was promoted to Sgt and posted to HMCS Fredericton where he promptly deployed on OP SAIPH in the Gulf of Aiden conducting counter piracy and counter terrorism missions. Upon his return in 2010, he was posted to 19 Wing Comox as Deputy Platoon Chief where he was tasked to stand up LUSAR T1 conducting training withUSAR teams from across Canada and the US.
In 2013 Maj Stevens Commissioned from the Ranks and was promoted to Lt. He completed his phase training at CFSME in 2014 and was bb bE Section Halifax, as the Plan O. In 2015 he was promoted to Capt and assumed the role of Requirements Officer for RP Ops det Halifax. In 2017, after surviving transformation, Maj Stevens was posted to 4 Cdn Div in Toronto as the G35. In 2018 vMarshal. In 2019, he was posted to 19 Wing Comox as the Wing Fire Chief, and after promotion to Maj in July 2020, he assumed the position of Officer Commanding RP Ops Det Comox. After two amazing years in the best position of his career, he was posted to the Canadian Forces Fire Marshal’s Office (remotely) as the Operations Officer.
Maj Stevens will retire from the CAF on 15 Sept 2024 smoothly transitioning into the Public Service returning to RP Ops Det Comox as the Ops Planner. He alongside his beautiful wife Rhonda and their daughters Sienna and Sara are digging in roots in the Comox Valley.
