    We regret to advise of the death of Major Allan Howard "Ole" Johansen, CD (Ret'd) at his home on 28 July 2023 at the age of 85 years.

    Allan was born in Prince Rupert BC. He left the fishing and logging industry in 1957 to join the Royal Canadian Air Force. Ole became an Airframe Technician and served with 103 Search and Rescue Squadron at RCAF Station Greenwood NS. With a growing family to support, he decided to return to school and become an officer. Ole graduated from the University of Alberta in 1970 and then followed a career as a Canadian Military Engineer Officer.

    After completing his Officer Classification training at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering in Chilliwack BC, Ole started his new career at Canadian Forces Station Masset BC. Then, after a tour at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering in Chilliwack BC as the Officer Commanding Construction Engineering Squadron, he was appointed Base Construction Engineering Officer at Canadian Forces Base Comox BC. He was next posted to Canadian Forces Europe with the SSO Construction Engineering Staff. When Ole returned to Canada he was the Base Technical Services Officer at CFB Cornwallis NS. His final move was to CFB Trenton ON where he served in the headquarters of the Canadian Forces Training System. Upon his retirement from the Canadian Forces in 1993, Ole served as a board director with the National Air Force Museum of Canada at CFB Trenton.

    Cremation has taken place. A Graveside Service was held at Whites Cemetery, Trenton on 11 August at 1:00 pm with reception following at the Weaver Life Centre in Trenton.   As expressions of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the National Air Force Museum of Canada.
