Lt William Bennett McKay “Bill” Clarke (Ret’d)

We regret to advise of the death of Lieutenant William Bennett “Bill” McKay Clarke (Ret’d) on 22 October 2009 at Chateau Gardens in Aylmer ON in his 99th year.
Bill was born in Sussex NB and moved with his parents to Stockton, CA where they lived until he was fifteen years old. His father's ill health brought the family back to Sussex where Bill completed high school and later received a degree in Forestry from the University of New Brunswick.
Bill was a veteran of the Second World War. After graduation, he worked for a few years with the Dominion Forest Services, but later left his job and joined the Royal Canadian Engineers and served in England and Holland. On his return from Europe, Bill worked with the Department of Lands and Forests in Toronto ON North Bay ON and later in Aylmer. He retired from the position of District Forester in Aylmer in 1974. Bill was a member of Trinity Anglican Church, the Aylmer Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, and the Rotary Club of Aylmer.
At Bill's request, a private interment service was held at the Aylmer Cemetery. Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society as expressions of sympathy will be appreciated. {dcDec19wd} {zsd, zsp]
