Lt Stanley “Stan” Daniel Cameron (Ret'd)

We regret to advise the death of Lieutenant Stanley “Stan” Daniel Cameron (Ret'd) on 29 October 2009 at the age of 89 at the North York General Hospital in Toronto.
Born in Edmonton, AB, Stan was a graduate of the University of Alberta where he was captain of the Alberta Golden Bears basketball team. During the Second World War he served with the Royal Canadian Engineers in 2nd Canadian Division CRE. On 3 October 1944, he was seriously wounded by a sniper's bullet conducting a recce of a proposed bridge site at Merxem in Belgium.
After the war, he worked as a psychologist with the Alberta Tuberculosis Association for several years before joining the Public Service Commission of Canada in 1954. His career with the government of Canada took Stan to Ottawa, Vancouver and back to Ottawa. Stan moved from personnel administration into a variety of management positions in the government, retiring in 1979 as the Senior Assistant Deputy Minister of Transport.
A service to celebrate his life will be held in the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel”, 1403 Bayview Avenue, Toronto 3 November 2009.
