Lt Peter Sutherland Chisholm (Ret'd)

We regret to advise of the death of Lieutenant Peter Sutherland Chisholm of Guelph ON on 29 May 2014 at the age of 84 years.
Peter was born in London, Ontario. He studied engineering at the Royal Military College and was commissioned into the Royal Canadian Engineers in 1953. After completing his military service, Peter received a Masters's degree from the University of Toronto and a doctorate from Stanford University in California. Peter was a Professor of Engineering at the University of Guelph.
Peter was known by his students as ‘smiling Pete’, a holdover from his RMC days. He was active with the local chapter of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario (APEO) and Engineers in the Classroom where he brought his joy of teaching and science to classrooms throughout southwestern Ontario. An avid outdoorsman and nature lover, he caught many trout that got bigger with every story told.
A visitation will be held at Wall Custance Funeral Home, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm on Thursday, June 5th. A funeral service will be held at 4:30 pm on Friday, June 6th at St. James Anglican Church, 86 Glasgow St. North, Guelph. A reception will follow at the reception centre at the Arboretum at the University of Guelph.
