We regret to advise of the death of Lester Charles “Charlie” Billings on 30 April 2014 at Central Okanagan Hospice House, Kelowna, BC at the age of 97.

Charlie was born in Saskatoon, SK and grew up on a farm near Richard, SK. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Engineers in 1940 and was a sapper with Number 1 Road Construction Company throughout the war. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom, and France. It was in France where he suffered a leg injury which impacted him for the remainder of his life. After demobilization Charlie went to work for Henry Birks & Sons in Saskatoon and spent the remainder of his career working for them.
