L/Cpl Lloyd Snowden (Ret'd)

We regret to advise of the death of Lance Corporal Lloyd Snowden (Ret'd) in Kamloops, BC, on 16 May 2002, aged 84 years.
Lloyd was born in North Bend, BC. He enlisted in June 1942 at age 24 and initially served in the Military Police and Regimental Police for eight months until he was transferred to 1st Canadian Railway Operating Group, Royal Canadian Engineers in England as an Engineer. He disembarked onto the Continent on 2 September 1944 and ran hospital and prisoner of war trains in France, Germany, Belgium, and Holland.
When the war ended, Lloyd volunteered to have his repatriation delayed for a year as he was not married. He was eventually discharged in February, 1946. After the war, Lloyd worked as an engineer for the Canadian Pacific Railway, retiring as Supervisor of Rules Instruction for the Pacific Region with forty-two years of railway service. {dcMay17gd}[zsp]
