L/Cpl Heinrich “Henry” Weibe (Ret’d)

We regret to advise the death of Lance Corporal Heinrich “Henry” Weibe (Ret’d) of Nipawin, SK on 10 June 2014 at the age of 95 years.
Henry was born in Gouldtown, SK and remained at home to help on the farm until he was nine. He started Gilroy School where he completed Grade 8 when he was 14. Henry was a veteran of the Second World War. He joined the Army in 1941 and trained in Camrose, AB, Dundurn, SK and Aldershot, England. He served in the Royal Canadian Engineers with the 8th Field Squadron from 1941 until 1946 seeing action in Northwest Europe. Henry returned to Canada and was demobilised in 1946. He farmed in the Carrot River, SK area until 1960 when he moved his family to a farm east of White Fox, SK. He retired at the age of 70 years. Heinrich was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Nipawin Branch #120 from whom he received his 45-year pin in 2011.
