LCol Jérémie Emond, CD will retire on 18 Jul 2016 after serving 22 plus years of loyal and dedicated service to the CAF and the CME Branch (see bio attached). Lcol Emond has accepted a position with DND, ADM(IE) as the Director of Portfolio Planning in Ottawa. A DWD evening will take place on 22 Jun 2016 at the Citadelle, Québec (see poster attached). Lieutenant-Colonel Jérémie Emond joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1994 as part of the Primary Reserve. After rising through the ranks at the 10th Field Engineering Squadron, he transferred to the Regular Force in 2002, where he held various positions within the 5e Régiment du génie de combat. In 2006, he occupied the G3 Plans position within the headquarters of 5th Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group. Promoted to the rank of Major, he was transferred in 2008 to the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering as Officer Commanding - Field Engineering Training Squadron. After two years in New Brunswick, he moved to the National Capital Region at the headquarters of the Canadian Expeditionary Force Command as operations and plans officer in the joint engineer cell. Fresh out of the Canadian Forces College, he was posted at the headquarters of the Canadian Army as a planner in the G3 cell. Following his promotion to his current rank, he was transferred to the Directorate of portfolio planning within the Infrastructure and Environment group. He commanded the Engineering Service of the 2nd Canadian Division Support Group in the summer of 2015 and was the first Commanding Officer of the Real Property Operations Unit (Quebec).
In 2002, he deployed on Operation PALLADIUM as an engineering plans officer and in 2007-2008 on Operation ATHENA as the deputy Chief Engineer.
Lieutenant Colonel Emond holds a Civil Engineering degree (Laval) and is a professional engineer from the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec. He earned a Master of Defence Studies (RMCC) and is currently completing a Master in Public Administration from the École nationale d'administration publique. He is a graduate from the Joint Command and Staff Program of the Canadian Forces College in Toronto.
He is married to Pascale Mainguy and they have three wonderful boys: Gabriel (12 years), Benjamin (8) and Charles (6 years).
Lieutenant Colonel Emond will release from the Canadian Armed Forces on 18 july 2016, after more than 22 years of service, to fill the position of Director of Portfolio Planning at the Department of National Defence and to return permanently to his family.
