    After 41 plus years of service LCol Martinell retires from the CAF on 18 January 2014.

    LCol Bob Martinell joined the CAF in 1972 graduating from Le College Militaire Royal de Saint-Jean (1977). He earned two masters degrees (Kings College of London and RMC) and attended the Tech Staff Course in Shrivenham (1985). Career highlights include the jump course (1976), postings to 5e Genie (1978-80), QG 5e Groupe-Brigade (1980-82) and command of 22 Fd Sqn (4 ESR) (1990-92), a tour in Cyprus with 3e R22R (1979), postings to the BCEO in Gagetown, CFRETS and CFSTG in Borden, CFC Toronto and its equivalent (JSCSC) at the UK Defence Academy Shrivenham. He enjoyed postings in Ottawa with ADM(Pol), ADM(Mat), DGMEO and ADM(IE). Bob also served in with SHAPE and NATO HQ (2010-13).

    Cathy and Bob are retiring in Barrie to be central to the families of their four children: Kelly, Jennifer, Christina and Robin – currently spread from Oromocto to Calgary. They intend to travel to visit family and their many friends while attempting to master their various hobbies including their new house.
