LCol A. A. "Angus" McPherson, MiD, CD (Ret'd)

We regret to advise of the death of Lieutenant Colonel Angus Alexander McPherson, MiD, CD (Ret'd) on 13 July 2008.
Angus was born in Scotland in 1921, raised in North Vancouver and graduated from the University of British Columbia in civil engineering. He started his 27-year military career in the infantry but transferred to the Royal Canadian Engineers. His service included WWII, Korea (where he was Mentioned in Despatches) and in Germany. Angus was Commanding Officer 3 Field Squadron 1958 - 1959 and Commanding Officer 4 Field Squadron 1960 - 1962. He had a very positive impact on generations of sappers when he was with the Royal Canadian School of Military Engineering as Adjutant and Senior Instructor in Tactics. His career culminated as Commandant of the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering 1969 - 1970.
Retiring from the Army in 1970, Angus joined the BC Ministry of the Environment where he worked on the Fraser River flood control program. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations, if friends wish, may be made to a charity of their choosing. In keeping with his wishes, the family will be having a private graveside ceremony.
