We regret to advise of the death of  Spr Joseph Phillip Gerald “Gerry” Rose (Ret'd), peacefully on 18 October 2019 in Peterborough, ON.

Gerry was born in Little Bras d’Or in 1937 and was raised in Baddeck, NS. He left home at a young age to join the Canadian Armed Forces in 1953 as a member of the 2^nd Intake of the Sapper Apprentices at the Royal Canadian School of Military Engineering in Camp Chilliwack, BC . His  five-year service with the Royal Canadian Engineers included tours with the Field Squadrons in Germany and Petawawa, ON. Gerry also deployed to Egypt with the United Nations Emergency Force (UNEF). After he moved on to another career he called many places home over the years but Peterborough was his home in retirement for the past twenty-five years.

The family will receive friends at Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge St. Peterborough, on Friday, 25 October 2019 from 2-4:00 & 7-9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, 26 October 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church, 859 Barnardo Avenue, Peterborough. Donations to Sick Kids Hospital (https://www.sickkidsfoundation.com ) or the Trent University Nursing Brigade (https://mycommunity.trentu.ca/nursingbrigadegive ) in Gerry’s name would be appreciated.
