Sgt Jocelyn Joseph Lalancette, CD (Ret’d)

We regret to advise of the death of Sergeant Jocelyn Joseph Lalancette, CD (Ret’d) in a traffic accident in Utica, Illinois, USA on 27 July 2016 at the age of 57.
Born in Chicoutimi QC, Jocelyn joined the Canadian Forces in 1976 as a Combat Engineer graduating from the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering in Chilliwack BC in 1977 from where he was posted to 5e Regiment du Genie de Combat in Base Valcartier QC. In 1979, he qualified as a Combat Diver. In 1982, Jocelyn changed trades to Air Traffic Controller and served at Canadian Forces Bases Shearwater NS, Petawawa ON, Bagotville QC, Valcartier, and back to Bagotville from where he retired in 2000 and joined the Air Reserve.
After leaving the military, Jocelyn qualified as a driver on semi-trailers and worked for various long range transport companies in Quebec, as well as teaching semi-trailer driving at a Chicoutimi area driving school. It was while on an assignment to the United States that he was involved in his fatal accident
