Published March 10, 2022

On Tuesday 8 March 2022, Cpl Kyle Scott, (Ret’d) was honoured by the Military Personnel Command of the Canadian Forces for his efforts in helping veterans receive honours and awards.

The award was presented in a Zoom call by Brigadier General Andrew Atherton, Chief of Staff Operations, Military Personnel Command in Ottawa. Kyle and his family were on hand at his branch of the Royal Canadian Legion in Edmonton. Kyle reports he was “slightly embarrassed and grateful for this honour.” His efforts so far have resulted in over 650 veterans receiving overdue or missing honours and awards.

The citation reads:

In 2018, Cpl (retired) Kyle Scott, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, embarked on a campaign to identify Canadian veterans who were eligible for honours for their service to Canada, which they had not received. Using social media, he has located and assisted hundreds of veterans with the administration process, resulting in long overdue recognition. His initiative has helped to renew a sense of pride in each recipient and assisted the Canadian Armed Forces in honouring those who have served.

Kyle promises not to stop and to continue bringing pride and happiness to veterans and their families, an effort he describes as “priceless”.
