    We regret to advise of the death of Henry “Harry” Berlet, peacefully on 3 May 2022 at Grand River Hospital in Waterloo ON in his 97th year. 

    Harry enlisted in the Royal Canadian Engineers during the Second World War at the age of 18 and fought in Northwest Europe with the 3rd Division Engineers. After hostilities ceased, He remained in Germany with the Canadian Army Occupation Force until June 1946. Returning to Canada, after demobilization, Harry settled in Kitchener and married in 1949. He lived the rest of his life in the home he built in Kitchener.

    Harry worked with the Waterloo County Board of Education in maintenance for 32 years. After retirement, he embarked on a new career building and renovating churches with Labour's for Christ. He was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church where he served on the council and sang in the choir. Harry was a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 50 in Kitchener.

    Visitation will be held at Erb and Good Family Funeral Home [171 King St. S., Waterloo] on Monday, 9 May from 2-4:00 & 7-9:00 PM. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, 10 May at Grace Lutheran Church [136 Margaret Ave., Kitchener] with a reception following immediately after. Interment will take place at Memory Gardens, Breslau. In Memoriam donations can be made to the Grace Lutheran Building Fund or to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 50 in Kitchener.
