Frederick William Sibley

    We regret to advise of the death of Frederick William Sibley at Victoria General Hospital in Christchurch, England on 21 February 2003 in his 92nd year.

    Fred was a veteran of the Second World War and served 21 years in the Royal Engineers, retiring in 1951. He then immigrated to Canada with his family and joined the Royal Canadian Engineers for another 15 years before retiring again in 1966. After retirement, he realised a long-time ambition to serve as a Minister of the United Church of Canada. He served in Edgerton, AB for three years before retiring to Salt Spring Island, BC and eventually moving to Sidney, BC in 1983. He was an active Freemason, being a Charter Junior Warden, later Master of Griesbach Lodge, Edmonton, AB; a Past Master of Admiral Lodge, Salt Spring Island; Past Grand Steward and Past District Deputy Grandmaster of the Grand Lodge of BC; and a 32-year Scottish Rite Freemason.

    A celebration of Fred's life will be held at Mt. Newton Masonic Lodge, 8105 Derrinberg Rd., Saanichton, BC on 1 March at 2:30 PM. Donations may be made to the Grand Lodge of Free Masons of BC, Cancer Care Program, 1495 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver, BC. {gdMar2017dc} [zsd, zpp]
