Sgt Ben McCafferty, CD prendra sa retraite des Forces armées canadiennes le 8 novembre 2018 après 23+ années de service qu’il a consacré comme membre des FAC et de la Branche du GMC (voir bio ci-joint). Amis et collègues sont invités à assister à son départ dans la dignité qui aura lieu à ARC club, Trenton, Ontario le 1 novembre 2018 à 14h00. Sergeant McCafferty began his military career while serving with the Cadet Instructor Cadre from 1995 to 1998. He eventually transferred to 722 Reserve Communications Squadron as a Radio Operator from 1998 to 1999 where he completed his Basic Military Qualifications Course. On 6 June 1999 he received his recruit school bi-pass into the Regular Force as a Combat Engineer and began his QL3 course at CFB Petawawa. Shortly after completing his QL3, he deployed twice to Bosnia, Roto 8 and 13. Immediately after finishing his Advanced Water Course, he deployed with the Disaster Assistance Response Team to Sri Lanka in 2005. He then deployed twice with Task force Afghanistan on 3-06 and 1-10. Just after 1-10 he received his Occupational Transfer to the RM Tech trade and was posted to Base Construction Engineers Petawawa on 15 November 2011. On 8 January 2015 he obtained his 313A Industrial Commercial Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Journeyman License. On 13 July 2015 he was posted to 86 Airfield Systems and Utilities Flight at 8 Wing Trenton where he is currently employed as a Aircraft Arresting Systems Senior Crew Chief. During his three years at 86 ASU, he has deployed to various locations in the Artic in direct support to the North American Aerospace Defense Command during Northern Operations. He has also completed multiple deployments with the mobile repair team in support to 1 Canadian Air Division.
