We regret to advise of the death of Robert “Bob” Sampson Ellis on 20 January 2010 at the age of 88 years in Calgary, AB.
Bob was born and raised in Coronation, AB and served overseas in WWII with the Royal Canadian Engineers as a sapper. After demobilization, Bob returned to Coronation and started his long career with Canada Post as a Postmaster - retiring in 1981. During his career he served as the Secretary Treasurer of the Canadian Postmasters Association as well as a Justice of the Peace, Town Counsellor and on the Chamber of Commerce. He was always active in community and church activities no matter where he lived. He was a life-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Heritage Club.
Funeral services will be held at St. David’s United Church, 3303 Capitol Hill Crescent NW, Calgary on 27 January 2010. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank Society.
