    We regret to advise of the death of Firefighter Master Warrant Officer Jean-Marie Bellefleur, CD (Ret’d) on 10 December 2022 in Mississauga ON at the age of 93 years. Jean-Marie was a former Fire Chief of Canadian Forces Base St Hubert QC.

    Born in Lac-Megantic QC, Jean-Marie was the eldest of seven siblings and half-siblings. Having lost his father at an early age, Jean-Marie stepped in to provide financial support for the family and was looked up to as a mentor by his closest siblings. Jean-Marie began his military career in 1948 when he enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force.

    Jean-Marie served a full 25-year career as a military Firefighter before retiring with the rank of Master Warrant Officer. He had a long and distinguished career with postings across Canada and NATO postings in the United Kingdom, France and Germany. On retirement from the Canadian Forces, Jean-Marie joined the Public Service and became the Fire Chief at Canadian Forces Base St Hubert QC. He retired from this position as a FR5 in 1984 and moved to the Toronto area to be closer to his children and grandchildren.

    A private funeral service and interment ceremony will be held in Mississauga where Jean-Marie will be laid to rest alongside his wife. Online condolences may be made to the funeral home.
