    We regret to advise of the death of Sergeant James “Jim” Ellerton, CD (Ret’d) of Prince George BC on 27 December 2021. 

    James was born Aldershot, England and moved around the world with his family for a few years making stops in Africa and India. The family made their way back to England when his father retired. James moved to Canada in 1965 and joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1967.

    James undertook his Basic Training in Calgary with the Queens Own Rifles and then completed his basic Field Engineer training at the Royal Canadian School of Military Engineering in Chilliwack BC. His first posting was to 3 Field Squadron in Chilliwack (1967-76) after which he served as a Basic Training Instructor at the Canadian Forces Recruit School at Canadian Forces Base Cornwallis NS (1976-79). James then returned to 3 Field Squadron (1979-83) for a tour after which he was posted to CFB Penhold AB as the supervisor of the Roads and Grounds section (1983 - 87).

    James retired from the Canadian Forces in 1987 after more than 20 years service and settled in Prince George BC. In his retirement, James and his wife Lucille were active in the Alzheimer Society,
