We regret to advise of the death of Corporal Murray Russell Dunford, CD (Ret’d) of Aylesford, Nova Scotia, suddenly in Halifax NS on 16 September 2021.

Murray enlisted in the Canadian Forces in 1972 and trained as a Sapper at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering in Chilliwack BC. His career as a Sapper included 2 Combat Engineer Regiment in Petawawa, ON and he was affectionately known as “Chimo” by his sapper buddies. Murray remustered to Metals Technician in the early 1980s and served until 1992 in this trade.

When Murray retired from the Canadian Forces in 1992 he studied small engine repair at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and then worked as a motorcycle mechanic until his second retirement. While he also did some truck driving and tried his hand as a motorcycle instructor, Murray always ended back up with wrench in his hand.

Murray was an extreme NASCAR fan and never missed a race. He also enjoyed working at the racetracks at every chance he got. His greatest passion in life was his motorcycle and he would have lived on it if possible.

On-line condolences can be sent to the funeral home. Funeral arrangements will be advised when known
