    We regret to advise that Captain Charles Edward Whitten, BSc. Mil., B.A.Sc., P.Eng. (Retd) died at Toronto on 21 May 2009 after a short illness.

    Born in 1923 in Montreal, Charles graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada in 1942. He served with the Royal Canadian Engineers and Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada during WWII and participated in the liberation of Holland. After the war and graduation from the University of Toronto in 1948, Chuck worked at Canadian Car and Foundry in Montreal, returning to Toronto in 1951 to work at Continental Can of Canada where he rose to the level of Mill Manager. He then began a long career at Canadian Wallpaper (Reed) reaching the position of Vice President of Manufacturing. Chuck also worked as a project manager for Reed Limited and later as a consultant.

    Friends called at the Trull Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 2704 Yonge Street on 26 May and the funeral service was held in the chapel on 27 May. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
