We regret to advise of the sudden death of Firefighter Owen Peter “O.P.” Smith on Friday 24 January 2020 after a very short illness at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary AB at the age of 74 years. O.P. was a veteran of 37 years as a firefighter with the Canadian Military Engineers. Postings through OP's career included 3 Wing Zweibrucken GE,  RCAF Station Rivers MB,  CFB Penhold AB, CFB Comox BC,  and the  Canadian Forces Maritime Experimental and Test Ranges (CFMETR) in Nanoose BC.

A memorial service for O.P. will be held Saturday, 8 February 2020 at 1:00 pm at Deer Park Alliance Church. A reception will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 35 in Red Deer.
