    We regret to advise of the death of Firefighter Alvin “Al” Arthurs on 29 November 2019 at the age of 93 years.

    Al was born on the farm near Loverna, SK. After leaving home at 15 he worked in the Vancouver shipyards and in the forestry, dairy, and mining industries in addition to his RCAF service. Al was a veteran of the Second World War. He was very proud of his RCAF service where he served in the 1940s and 1950s  and his postings included 3 Wing in Zweibruken GE and in northern Canada.

    Al spent the last 20 years of his working career at the Veterans Home in Saskatoon. After this, he enjoyed 33 years of retirement - 24 of which were spent in Abbotsford, BC. He had a life-long love for physical fitness and was both an athlete and a coach with the wrestling program at the University of Saskatchewan.

    A celebration of life will be held in Spring of 2020. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to the Canadian Red Cross or to a charity of your choice. Condolences can be sent online to the  funeral home. {khMar2020}
