On 11 August, friends, family and well-wishers of LCol Rodney Keller, CD (Ret'd) and his family will gather at the Guelph Country Club for the Rod Keller Memorial Tournament.
Rod Keller served for 26 years as an Engineer Officer retiring from the Royal Canadian Engineers in July 2011. He career started in 22 Field Squadron after graduating from RMC in 1989. He served in NATO operations in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1997 and Operation APOLLO in Afghanistan. In 2009, he assumed command of Canadian Forces Base Suffield and on his retirement, he became the General Manager of Operations for the City of Guelph in 2011 after he retired from the military. Sadly, Rod Keller passed away on 2 July 2016.
Rod was an avid golfer. His wife, Laura, started the golf tournament in 2017, to raise money for a memorial scholarship to be given to a cadet from 1882 Wellington Rifles Cadet Corps in Guelph, ON. Rod had been a cadet in that corps as a young student. Last year’s tournament raised just over $10,000. Keller said, this year they are looking to beat that number and hopefully raise
The Rod Keller Golf Tournament gets into full swing on August 11, 2018, and starts at 1 p.m. There will be lunch served, 9-hole golf, steak dinner and a silent auction.
