Sgt Eugene F. “Gene” Doucet (Ret'd)

    We regret to advise of the death of Sergeant Eugene F. “Gene” Doucet (Ret'd) of Lower Sackville, NS on 5 March 2003 at the age of 71 years.

    Gene was born in Bathurst, NB. He served for 15 years in the Royal Canadian Engineers at the Mapping and Charting Establishment in Ottawa, ON as a map printer before joining the Federal Government Map Office. He was transferred to Halifax, NS  in 1978 and promoted to Federal Chief of Printing for Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Ill health forced Gene to retire in 1985.  Gene was always active in the community.  He was awarded Rotarian of the year in 1972 for community service. Gene was also vice-president of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #33, Aylmer, QC.

    Cremation has taken place. A private family burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Donations in Gene’s memory may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. On-line condolences may be made at {dcJan19gd} [zsd, zpp]
