    We regret to advise of the death of Sapper Edward H. “Dud” Davis (Ret’d) of Whitney Pier, NS at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney, NS on 2 April 2009 in his 84th year.

    Dud was born in Sydney. He was a veteran of the Second World War and served in the Royal Canadian Engineers in Italy and Northwest Europe.  He was an active member of the Atlantic Sappers and attended many reunions over the years.

    Dud worked for 42 years at the Sydney Steel Corporation and retired in 1982.  He was active in community activities throughout his life including being a founding member of the Whitney Pier Rink and the original Commanding Officer of Whitney Pier Air Cadet Squadron 587.  He was also a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Whitney Pier Branch #128 and served as President.

    Visitation will tke place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 PM.   A funeral mass will be celebrated on 10:30 AM on 6 April at Holy Redeemer Church with interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.  Donations may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses. {dcMay2017gd} [zsd, zsp]
