    Chief Warrant Officer Stacy Merriam joined the Canadian Armed Forces in September 1990 as a Field Engineer. Throughout his career, CWO Merriam served at all noncommissioned member (NCM) ranks in three different divisions over eleven postings: Chilliwack, British Columbia; Edmonton, Alberta (twice); Kingston (thrice), Petawawa (twice), and Ottawa, Ontario; Montreal, Quebec; and Gagetown, New Brunswick. While in Kingston, he served at the Canadian Army Doctrine and Training Centre as the Training and Safety CWO, and at the Peace Support Training Centre as the A Sqn SM and A/UCWO.

    CWO Merriam deployed on two operations; to the former Yugoslavia (UNPROFOR) as a section member with 1 Combat Engineer Regiment in 1994; and to Kandahar, Afghanistan, (OP ATHENA) as the Engineer Squadron Operations Warrant in 2008. In 1996, CWO Merriam received the Medal of Bravery for his actions during a mine strike in Kakma, Croatia.

    CWO Merriam was promoted to his current rank in June 2016 and appointed as the Training and Safety CWO at the Canadian Army Doctrine and Training Centre in Kingston. In July 2017, he received the prestigious honour of appointment as the Regimental Sergeant Major of 2 Combat Engineer Regiment in Petawawa. In August 2020, he was posted to National Defense Headquarters, Ottawa, as the Canadian Military Engineer Branch Chief Warrant Officer.
