    After more than 28 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineer Branch, CWO Albert Levesque, CD, will retire on 19 June 2024. Anecdotes and well wishes may be sent to CWO S.R. McGinn at Sean.McGinn@forces.gc.ca.


    CWO Levesque enrolled in the Primary Reserve in 1995 and was employed at the 26th Service Battalion Maintenance Company in Sault Ste. Marie, ON, until transferring to the Regular Force in 1998. In 1999, CWO Levesque completed an occupational transfer from Military Police to Refrigeration Mechanical (RM) Technician. Upon completing QL3 training in 2000, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal and posted to the Construction Engineering section at CFB Bagotville in Saguenay QC.

    In 2004, he completed QL5 training, received the appointment of Master Corporal, and was posted to the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering at CFB Gagetown in Oromocto, NB. As a Refrigeration Cell Instructor, he enjoyed training and developing the skills of Refrigeration apprentices and technicians. In 2007, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assumed the role of RM Cell Commander.

    In 2008, CWO Levesque was posted to 12 Radar Squadron at CFB Bagotville in Saguenay QC, where he twice deployed on joint operations. Promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer in 2009, he was posted to the newly formed 2 Air Expeditionary Squadron (AES) as the Mission Support Element (MSE) Squadron Sergeant-Major at CFB Bagotville. Later that year, he deployed to Afghanistan as the Contract Officer with 1 CER.

    In 2012, he was promoted to the rank of Master Warrant Officer and in December he was selected to go on tour as Squadron Master Warrant Officer at Canadian Forces Station Alert. In 2014, he was posted to Garrison Wainwright as the Construction Engineering Sergeant-Major.

    In July 2016, CWO Levesque was appointed to his actual rank and posted to the position of UCWO at RPOU(W) CFB Edmonton. In July 2018, CWO Levesque was posted to the 22 Wing Administration Technical Services (WATS) Branch as the Squadron CWO. From July 2020 to May 2024, CWO Levesque served as the Real Property Operations Group (RPOG) Formation CWO.

    After more than 28 years of service to the CAF, CWO Levesque will retire. His intent is to continue contributing to the CAF and DND but now as a public servant. CWO Levesque is married to his childhood friend and together, they have two boys who are 25 and 20 years of age.
