    We regret to advise of the death of Chief Warrant Officer Richard “Dick” Roth, CD (Ret’d), peacefully at home in Surrey BC on 29 May 2021 at age 95. Dick was a veteran of the Second World War. He joined as a Boy Soldier in 1943 and trained at several schools across Canada. After the war, he joined the Permanent Force and the Royal Canadian Engineers as a Firefighter with No 15 Engineer Services and Works Company in Camp Borden ON. Dick went on to serve 30 years with the Canadian Military Engineers in the mechanical trades.

    Dick served across Canada in locations such as: at the Royal Canadian School of Military Engineering in Camp Chilliwack BC as an Instructor (1950-56), 18 Works Company at Fort Churchill MB (1958-60), back to the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering as an instructor (1960-71) [ during which time he deployed to Canadian Forces Station Alert NU in 1967], and then with  Air Transport Command Headquarters in Trenton ON (1971-74) as  Mechanical Inspector. Dick retired from the Canadian Forces in 1975 and then pursued a 21-year career as a Mechanical Inspector for a consulting engineering company.
