We regret to advise of the death of Chief Warrant Officer Pius Young, CD (Ret’d) in Edmonton AB on 18 May 2021 after a brief illness.

Pius was born in Stephenville Crossing NL. He originally enlisted with the Royal Canadian Navy and served on HMCS Bonniventure, before joining the Army. He served a full career with the Canadian Military Engineers as a Field Engineer in both the Regular Force and the Reserve Force.  His postings included 1 Airborne Field Squadron in Edmonton AB (including a deployment with UNFICYP in 1974), the Canadian Forces Parachute Maintenance Depot, 22 Field Squadron in Gagetown NB, and with the Regular Support Staff. He made a transfer to the Reserve Force with 8^th Field Engineer Regiment, where he was Regimental Sergeant Major from 1992 to 1996. Pius retired from the Canadian Forces in 1996.
