CWO Mike Golden was born in Hull, Québec and is an honours graduate of Herzing College, specializing in Computer Networking. He currently serves as the Country Security Manager for Canada at ABB.

Golden's military career began in 1999 when he enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in 3 Field Engineer Regiment (3 FER). After completing his combat engineer training in the summer of 2000, he deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina in September 2001 as a section member of the 5 Combat Engineer Regiment (5 CER) and again in 2004, this time as a Master Corporal (MCpl) with the National Command Element (Task Force Engineers).

Golden was promoted to Sergeant (Sgt) in 2006 and appointed as troop second-in-command (2IC). Over the next three summers, he served as an instructor for various courses with the 34 Canadian Brigade Group (CBG) and the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering (CFSME). His dedication to training led to his promotion to Warrant Officer in 2009, where he continued instructing basic military qualification courses at both the 34 CBG Battle School and 3 FER Hillside Armoury. In 2011, he was appointed Squadron Sergeant Major (SSM) of the 4 Field Engineer Squadron. His exceptional service was recognized in 2012 when he received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal. In 2013, Golden achieved the rank of Master Warrant Officer and took on the role of SSM for the Command and Support Squadron of the newly renamed 34 Combat Engineer Regiment (34 CER), formerly known as 3 FER.

Golden's leadership journey culminated in his appointment as Regimental Sergeant Major of 34 CER in 2019, followed by his promotion to Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) in January 2020. During his tenure, he also served as Deputy Sergeant Major of the Canadian Military Engineer Branch. In January 2022, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, he took on the role of Sergeant Major for the 34 Brigade Group Territorial Battalion Group under Operation Laser in Montreal. After concluding his role as Regimental Sergeant Major in April 2022, Golden transitioned to NCM Career Development, Progression, and Management Chief Warrant Officer for the 34 Brigade Group. In January 2024, he was assigned to the 2nd Canadian Division as the Culture Chief Warrant Officer.

Outside of his professional life, Golden has been married to Ashley Csenar for 15 years, and together they have three sons: Liam, Jake, and Cody. He is an avid cyclist and enjoys long hikes with his family.
