After more than 32 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineers, CWO Lori White, CD, will retire on 18 May 2023. A DwD ceremony will be held at the WOs’ and Sgts’ Mess in Kingston on 12 May 2023 starting at 13:00 hrs. Anecdotes and retirement wishes may be sent to MWO S.N. CWO Lori White was born in Hamilton, ON, and enrolled into the Canadian Armed Forces in 1988 as a Safety Systems Technician. After trades training in Borden, she was posted to 412 Sqn at CFB Uplands in Ottawa where she worked as a technician on the CC-144 Challenger and the CC-109 Cosmopolitan. With the closing of the base in 1994, CWO White was posted to 410 Sqn in Cold Lake to work on the CF 18s. In 1996, after completing her amalgamation training to become an AVN technician, she submitted her release and moved to sunny B.C.
In 1998, CWO White joined the 192nd Airfield Engineers Reservist Flight in Abbotsford, BC, as a Construction Technician and completed trades training at the community college in Stellarton, NS. In 1999, she enrolled once again in the Regular Force and was posted back to CFB Cold Lake to the Construction Engineering Unit, where she completed a tour to the Golan Heights in 2001.
As a Construction Engineer, CWO White has been posted to LFDTS Kingston as the Maintenance Supervisor, CFSME Gagetown as an instructor, 1 ESU Moncton as the Specialist Engineering Team Master Warrant Officer, 5 Wing Goose Bay as the Wing Master Warrant Officer, completed a year-long French course, and posted to 8 Wing Trenton as the Mission Support Squadron Chief Warrant Officer, from where she deployed as the Air Task Force – Mali Chief Warrant Officer from January to September 2019. Upon returning from OP PRESENCE MALI, she was appointed as the Wing Chief Warrant Officer at 1 Wing Kingston, ON. In 2022, CWO White attended a second year-long French course in Kingston.
CWO White is married to Sandra Kahanyshyn and after retirement, they plan to enjoy their hobbies and taking time to travel.
