    We regret to advise of the death of Chief Warrant Officer Howard James “Jim” White, CD (Ret'd), suddenly on 24 September 2021 at the age of 81 years. Jim was a Construction and Maintenance Technician. 

    Born in Cranbrook BC, Jim started his service as a member of the 5th Intake Sapper Apprentices in 1956 and proudly served a full career with the Canadian Military Engineers for 25 years. Retiring from the Canadian Forces in 1980, Jim then had a long second career in construction and facility management. He first joined with his brother Richard in Lethbridge, AB, then with the County of Newell in Brooks AB, next moving north to the Yukon Government in Whitehorse and, finally at the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford BC.

    Jim enjoyed playing golf with many lifelong friends. His latest accomplishment was that he recently finished restoring a 1961 Jaguar.

    A memorial service will be held on Thursday, 14 October at 13:00 at the Royal Canadian Legion #280 5561 Vedder Road in Chilliwack. Covid restrictions may be in effect. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences can be sent to  the Chilliwack Progress.
