Real Property Operations Unit (West) (RPOU-W) and Defense Construction Canada (DCC) hosted a heartwarming cultural potluck event to foster connections and celebrate the diversity within their teams. The event served as a much-needed icebreaker given that many employees have been working on a variety of teleworking working arrangements since the pandemic. Held in a vibrant atmosphere filled with cultural music, the potluck was a testament to the rich traditions and backgrounds that define the DND teams. The event allowed participants to share and savor a variety of dishes that reflected their colleagues' cultural heritage, creating a warm and inclusive environment that encouraged camaraderie and mutual appreciation.

RPOU-W Deputy Commanding Officer (DCO) Major Duncan Cornish opened the event with an inspirational speech. "Today, we are not just sharing food but also celebrating our diverse backgrounds and the strength of our unity. This event reminds us that our collective spirit and shared values make us stronger no matter where we work or how we connect. I thank DCC Regional Support Manager, Michael Yegani for including us in such a wonderful event." The DCO's message set a tone of unity and excitement for the gathering. His address highlighted the importance of teamwork, especially after such an extended remote work environment.

The event also marked a special moment as RPOU-W Commanding Officer (CO) LCol Johnathan Hallett took the opportunity to celebrate the new RPOU-W Unit Chief Warrant Officer (UCWO) CWO Craig Watts’ birthday with a coffee break courtesy of Tim Hortons.

The cultural potluck not only offered a chance to enjoy diverse cuisines and lively music but also reinforced the sense of community and collaboration that is integral to the success of any team. As the event ended, the warmth and camaraderie experienced during the potluck will carry forward into the new work dynamics, creating a more connected and supportive workplace environment.
