    We regret to advise of the death of Constable Thomas “Tom” Edward Beechey (Ret'd) on 9 June 2023, peacefully at home in St. Thomas ON at the age of 77 after a long battle with cancer. Tom was a former member of 31 Combat Engineer Regiment (The Elgins) in St. Thomas.

    Tom served a 25-year career with the St. Thomas Police Department, protecting  his community from 1972-1998 and retiring as a First Class Constable. During his career he was a Community Safety Officer, a Crime Scene Identification Officer, and was President of the St. Thomas Police Association.
    After retirement, Tom drove a school bus, a security truck for Loomis, became the supervisor of security for Lyndon at Formet and joined 31 Combat Engineer Regiment (The Elgins) in St. Thomas. Tom also volunteered at the St. Thomas Military Museum, as a football coach for both Parkside and Central Elgin Collegiate Institutes. He also worked with No. 7 St. Thomas Royal Canadian Army Cadets, one of the oldest Cadet Corps in Canada.

    Cremation has taken place, with private interment of ashes in South Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday 20 June from 7:00-9:00 p.m. A celebration of Tom's life will be held at Williams Funeral Home {45 Elgin St.} on Wednesday, 21 June 2023 at 1:00 p.m.

    Memorial donations to the St. Thomas Military Museum or the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital- Cancer Department would be greatly appreciated.
